Everything you need to know to get your frame right
Which glasses agree better with me according to the shape of my face? What size should I choose? Which color agrees better with me?
At Visual-Click we know that choosing our ideal glasses is not an easy task. The choice of the model that best suits our tastes and needs is fundamental and we usually spend more time on that than on the rest of the purchasing process. And the thing is that the prescription glasses are not only a visual health item, they are also a fashion complement and factors such as our personality, our style or our tastes will play an important role during the election.
But, where do we start? We want new glasses but we do not know which style suits us best or which model looks better on us. To make things easier for us, there are two basic rules that we must take into account:
1. Know the shape of your face and balance it with the shape of the frame.
2. Choose a frame that matches the size of your face.
These two tips can serve as a starting point to guide you, although there are other factors to consider such as the material of the frame, the color or the use you want to give it. But let's fine-tune a little to help you in your choice.
The ideal glasses for the type of your face. The tricks you needed
What glasses go with the shape of my face? It is something that anyone who is thinking of buying a pair of glasses will ask themselves. Well, the trick is pretty easy. Although each face is a world, almost all can be classified into six types according to their general features. If you know within which group yours is classified, knowing which glasses fit you will be a piece of cake:
ROUND FACES (curved shapes and soft appearance) The round faces usually have broad cheekbones and a curved chin. In general they have a pleasant and youthful expression. To break the predominance of curved lines, choose a frame with square shapes. These will stylize your features. On the contrary, avoid round frames and small ones, they will enhance the rounded tendency of your face.

RECTANGULAR FACES (chin of the same width as the forehead) The rectangular faces have an attractive and elongated structure, which makes them look stylized. They can be shortened visually with rectangular glasses that mark the horizontal line of symmetry of the face. If this is your type of face, avoid narrow frames and those with very sharp cat eye shape, they will make your face too long.
TRIANGULAR FACES (the forehead is narrower than the chin) These factions have a great personality. Sophisticated cat eye shape glasses for girls and Clubmaster glasses for boys are ideal as they give prominence to the upper part of the face by visually widening it towards the temples and balancing it with the chin. Avoid pilot shape glasses that emphasize the area of the cheekbones.
HEART FACES (the forehead is wider than the chin) It is the opposite case to the triangular face. In this case we want to remove prominence to the upper area of the face, so avoid prints and precious stones on the top of the frame and opt for a pilot or pear shape that highlights the middle part of your face. In this case, avoid cat eye or slotted glasses that focus attention on the upper area of your face.
SQUARE FACES (of similar width and height) The square faces are usually very attractive because of their strong facial structure. If this is your case, focus on round or oval glasses that help soften your features by counteracting the angular shapes of your jaw and cheekbones. Avoid square or rectangular glasses because with them you will look too severe.
OVAL FACES (with the shape of an oval) If this is your face type, we congratulate you. You have the most harmonious features of all, with beautiful cheekbones and balanced forehead and chin. Practically everything suits you, so you can dare with the most extravagant and groundbreaking frames.

What is my ideal size of Glasses?
To be able to choose the size of your glasses it is important that you understand how they are measured. This is done in three parameters expressed in millimeters inside the arm.
- Lens width: Is the width of the lens measured from the bridge. This measure will determine the visual field since a too narrow lens will limit the visibility of the lateral zones. Keep in mind that the lenses must not exceed the width of the face.
You already know how the size of the glasses is determined but, how to know which one will fit better? There are a number of details to keep in mind that will help you choose the best size for you:
- The size of the frame and the size of the face must be proportional.
- The bridge should not slide down your nose.
- The lower edge of the frame should not touch your cheek.
- The upper edge of the frame should not cover your eyebrows.
VISUAL-TRICK: There is a trick to get an idea of how your glasses will fit you without trying on them: Grab a credit card or your ID (use any that has a standard size). Put it upright making one of the edges coincide with the center line of your nose. If the other edge ends where your eye ends, you need a medium size of glasses (50-52 approximately). If the edge ends beyond the corner of the eye, then you need small glasses (47-49). And if, on the other hand, the edge of the card does not reach the end of the eye, you need big glasses (53-55).
Anything else?
Bear in mind that the higher your prescription parameters, the thicker your lenses will be, so if you have high parameters it is preferable that you avoid the thin frames from which the edges of your lenses can stand out.
Also keep in mind that if you have sensitive skin and you have a tendency to allergic reactions, it is better to choose an acetate frame. Metal can cause you some allergic reactions.
As for the choice of color, dare to follow the rule of accessories to make your look stand out intensely: violet for honey, havana and orange for green, red or burgundy for blue and opt for nude tones for dark brown or black eyes.
With all these tips you can now find the perfect frame for you. Now you just need to have your prescription clear so we can prepare your order. If you do not know your prescription parameters, we recommend that you have your parameters checked in any physical optician’s shop of your confidence. The optometrist will give you a prescription with all the parameters clearly indicated. In the following article, we give you more information about the eye exam and the centering of the lenses.
